Summer 2013 | Day 2 - Ilocos
Love at first sight! Who wouldn’t awe in belief after seeing this beautiful art of nature.
Summer 2013 | Day 2 - Ilocos
One of my favorites, blew my stress away! Sarap ng feeling! And it’s nice to know that these giants supports thousands of Ilocano households for their electricity. Thumbs up for being earth friendly. Wishing for more brighter idea like these from our government.
Summer 2013 | Day 2 - Ilocos
I love seeing old places. It’s like traveling back in time where all things seems black and white. As you can see, Ilocos has lots of these and this one is no exception. Built during the Spanish colonial period, Burgos Lighthouse or Cape Bojeador used to overlook early galleons sailing by. Until now, this serves as a beacon for ships to guide them away from the coast. We enjoyed the view but I wish we were alsi able to climb up the tower. Sadly, it isn’t allowed.
Summer 2013 | Day 2 - Ilocos
First stop of the day, Pasuquin Salt Making. Along the highway to Pagudpud, cottages are built to produce salt for sale. As the cottages are also along the seashore, sea water is pumped directly to a storage tank. The water is stored until the sediments settle at the bottom. And then, water is transferred to a pan to evaporate until only the pure white salt remains. Cool, right! Added knowledge! *shing*
Summer 2013 | Day 1 - Ilocos
Our last stop for the day, Batac, Ilocos Norte known to be the hometown of President Marcos. His mausoleum is located in the heart of the city where people can view the embalmed body of the President encased in a glass coffin while waiting for the Government decision to bury him at the Heroes Cementery. Though there are doubts that the body displayed the real one or just a wax replica, it’s about time for him to be laid to rest by recognizing him as one of the great leaders this country had ever have, not as the nation’s greatest villain.
Mga ilusyonada.
- S: Grabe ganda ni Solenn. Magkahawig talaga kami pag malayo e.
- K: Nakita mo? Oo nga magkahawig nga kayo. Kamuka ko din kasi si Isabelle Daza e.
- S: Oo nga noh. Mas maputi ka lng ng onti e.
Summer 2013 | Day 1 - Ilocos
Beautiful isn’t it? This is the San Agustin Church, popularly known as Paoay Church. Would you believe that this church withstand 2 destructive earthquakes in the 17th and 18th century yet still stands up to now? With its mix of Gothic, Oriental and Baroque design, every woman would love to get married here. Actually, there was a wedding being held the day we visited. (Yes, we have encountered 2 weddings in a day, is it a sign? :P )
Summer 2013 | Day 1 - Ilocos
This is one of the Mansions built by the Marcos’ built during their reign in the Philippines. The house is definitely impressive with its grand ballroom, large dining room, massive bedrooms and a balcony with the view of Paoay Lake. Also, there’s a museum on the ground floor presenting all the projects of President Maecos during his term. With all his works presented, I can now really say that he is indeed the greatest leader this country has ever had. I wonder when will we have another one like him?
Summer 2013 | Day 1 - Ilocos
Definitely not to be missed. We rent a 4x4 truck for 30 mins (1,500php) which brought us to that dubai-morocco-like view. The driver also took us to the site where Panday, Enteng Kabisote and Temptation Island were filmed. Besides enjoying the view of the sand dunes and the Suba beach, we went to a crazy rollercoaster ride as Kuya driver took the high sand ridges. And I’m sure Rapy enjoyed it as he makes fun of me while Im screaming my lungs out on our way down.
